Use this chart to... 

  • Help the team adjust its focus during a sprint and intervene if the sprint looks like it is going off track
  • Increase awareness of the story burndown
    • Most other burn-downs only show task burndown, meaning that the team might be unaware it is doing mini-waterfalls - where all the stories are completed on the last day of the sprint.
    • It is better to be completing stories regularly through the sprint

What the chart shows...

  • The burndown of tasks - typically measured in hours
  • The burndown of stories - measured in points 
  • Click on the blobs on the lines to drill down and see details of the tasks or stories

Setting up the chart

  • Choose the sprint 
  • Select the work-items (normally story and task) 
  • No labels
